UNESCO-listed hand-spun and hand-woven silk from Ibaraki with airy texture.
Yuki-tsumugi is a hand-woven silk fabric from the Yuki region spanning Ibaraki and Tochigi Prefectures, designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Made entirely by hand — from spinning floss silk into thread on the thigh, to kasuri tying, and weaving on a backstrap loom — the resulting fabric is remarkably lightweight, warm, and grows softer with each washing. Its production process has remained virtually unchanged for over 2,000 years.
