Vivid polychrome overglaze pottery from Ishikawa Prefecture with bold color palettes.
Kutani-yaki is a style of colored porcelain produced in Ishikawa Prefecture, first created around 1655 in the village of Kutani. Its hallmark is the bold use of five overglaze enamel colors — green, yellow, purple, navy blue, and red — applied in thick, vivid layers that create a dramatic painterly effect. The craft experienced a revival in the early 19th century and remains celebrated for its artistic ambition and expressive decorative surfaces.
